About PCBP
Blues Focused Music
The Port City Blues Players are a powerful blues ensemble based in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a city with deep roots in Delta Blues history. As house band and core members of Port City Blues Society, they are dedicated to preserving and promoting the blues culture of the Southeast Arkansas region.
The group delivers dynamic performances blending traditional delta blues with elements of jazz, soul, and funk featuring soulful vocals, expressive guitar work and a tight rhythm section. They have become a staple of the regional blues scene, performing at major venues and festivals throughout the delta while maintaining a strong presence at weekly blues jams. Their mission is centered on "Keeping the Blues Alive," which they achieve through:
- Live Performances: Regularly delighting fans at regional festivals such as the King Biscuit Blues Festival, Big Steam Blues & Roots Music Festival, Fordyce on the Cotton Belt and others.
- Community Engagement: Hosting the weekly open blues jam in Pine Bluff every Wednesday night at RJ's Sports Bar & Grill, where local and national talent come together to play.
- Education: Supporting charitable and educational activities to foster an appreciation for the genre among new generations.
The band has recently shared the stage at performances with headliners such as the legendary Bobby Rush, Eric Gales, DK Harrell, John Nemeth and others. The Port City Blues Players will again be a prominent part of the King Biscuit Blues Festival in 2026, bringing their soulful performance to the stage in Helena, Arkansas on October 8th. They are set to open the festival that Thursday night along with Eden Brent, Lonnie Shields, and Sean "Mack" McDonald.
The band features veteran musicians with extensive backgrounds in the blues scene including Jerry McCoy (guitar, vocals), Mark Morgan (guitar, vocals), Dave Sadler (guitar, vocals), Roscoe Willis (bass), Gene “Pops” Cooper (keyboards)and Lex Capraitalia (drums). Other regional musicians, including Ben Arrington (bass), frequently join the band at their performances.
